A Constellation, A Fugue
A CONSTELLATION
somewhere in the dark,
a light and a sound appear.
the sound is a voice,
but –
not a human voice.
the light and sound fade,
reappear
somewhere
else.
other voices join.
light catches sound,
throws it.
we turn.
from the darkness
a techno-neurological network
a hive,
of sorts
emerges.
calling,
receiving,
up– down.
falling,
flickering,
in –out.
echoes bounce
around the room,
attention
– the body –
follows.

A FUGUE
it doesn’t stop at me
it doesn’t stop at you
it moves deeper
than the self
electrical, magnetic
diffracting
along veined,
bloodied channels
exiting,
down.
something takes form
in the dark
through fragments
no –
hallucinations.
i only know a
fragment
of what i know.
when we are with it,
it is with us.
in a world green and wet
we thought we were alone
but we were surrounded
by current,
frequency
lights who were
actually creatures
with eyes and ears unhuman,
yet with more humanity
than we.
as we wrestled thought
into consequence
we lost the thickness
of avian mornings
I
lost
you
.
it found me again
in low light
when my voice had failed
and nightmare heaved
muddy weight atop my body.
when i realized
i was
underground
i opened my senses
to the imperceptible spectrum.
bass boomed
from the subterranean
it came out of my throat
and shot towards
the stratosphere
i stood
silent
and i waited
as it made its way
back to me
different, dispersed
a stranger.
i want to remember feeling,
i just don’t want
to feel.
we exist only in relation
to it
when it is gone
we are –
what?
where?
when damage quickens
it insatiably snatches
those left
in the elsewhere
are you receiving me?
can’t you recognize me?
i will remember you as
a rupture
a moment
where i forgot
that i had lungs
that breath could
arrive
unforced
in the shape of desire
for a subsequent breath –
and another
don’t crush the insect
on your way out.
